Halloween Must-Haves!

Halloween is tomorrow! Today will be my third installment of halloween themed blog posts. Today I am sharing what my must-haves are for Halloween. Although I did go to a costume party last week, not everybody likes to dress up, and I will be working on Halloween. So these are things that put my in the Halloween spirit without dressing up! Enjoy!

1) A bold lipstick! You don’t have to “dress up” to get in the Halloween spirit. Sometimes a fun, dark, vampy lip is all you need! And when else can you wear these colors?!? “Homegirl” from Kat Von D is the perfect vampy shade! This obviously isn’t one I wear often, but definitely this time of year! (P.S – its not as dark as it looks in the tube!)

(don’t mind my lack of makeup…just wanted to show you the lip color!)

2) Fun nail colors! I love doing my nails for Halloween! My favorites are dark purples, or dark almost blacks. I currently have on the black sparkle polish! Love it!

3)  A Halloween movie. There are so many good ones, but Hocus Pocus is a classic for me!

4) A yummy candle! I love burning a candle especially when I am watching a movie at night. Not only does it smell good but it adds a little bit to the mood! Any “pumpkin” candle is perfect for Halloween!

5) Candy. I love all candy (no discrimination here), but my favorite snack is a mix of peanuts and candy corn. I love the combo of sweet and salty! So yummy and festive!

6) Witches Brew. If you are a wine drinker. you have to try this (or something similar). This particular wine is made in my state (makes me love it even more), and it is a spiced red wine. Not only does the name of it work perfectly for Halloween, but I feel like fall/winter is the only time that a spiced red wine really works!

There you have it! Those are my Halloween must-haves! When I get out of work on Halloween, I will cozy up in my pjs with my glass of wine and watch a Halloween movie or two with the hubby! I can’t think of a more perfect evening!

Hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween!!

My Pinterest Fail :(

Have you ever seen a recipe or craft on Pinterest, and thought “I can do that”, and then it turns out looking nothing like the picture you saw?!? Yeah, that happened to me. I went to a Halloween party over the weekend and wanted to make a fun dessert. So I found these adorable pumpkin cheesecake balls that are supposed to look like mummies. Well….it did not turn out as planned! These were such a pain to make and I was getting so frustrated! They turned out horrible looking and I was slightly embarrassed to even take them to the party, but I decided it was just funny! P.S. they tasted AMAZING and everybody loved them!

This is the picture I found on the blog that shares the recipe!mummy-pumpkin-truffles-2

And this is what mine look like 😦 Pretty pathetic but kind of hilarious!

If you like pumpkin anything, check out this recipe (here)…they were are soooo tasty that it doesn’t matter what they look like!

My Halloween Costume!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend! Halloween is this coming weekend so I decided all of my posts this week are going to be Halloween related! I went to a Halloween party this past weekend and thought I would share my costume/makeup with you all!

Did you figure out who I am?!? 😉 I chose to be Snow White because my friends and family are always telling me that I remind them of her because of my dark hair and somewhat lighter skin. So I thought it would be fun to dress as her, and I loved the finished look!

The main points of Snow White’s look are the fair, porcelain-looking skin, rosy cheeks, and classic red lips!

For the face, I just used my Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless, added concealer under the eyes, and topped it all with Maybelline Fit Me powder. I already have pretty dark brows so I just filled them and shaped them a bit with It Cosmetics Universal Brow Pencil.

Because Snow White has fair skin, I skipped on bronzer and focused just on the blush. I used Colourpop Blush in “Holiday” applied generously to the “apples” of my cheeks. Then I used Becca Shimmering Skin perfecto in “Opal” to add some highlight!

For eyes, I kept it really simple with the Stila “In the Moment” Palette, using a pale pink all over the lid, a light brown though the crease, and then a shimmery pale pink/almost white on the lid. Topped it off with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and added some false lashes from “Kiss”. Mascara I used is Maybelling Push Up Drama.

For Lips I used Ciate London liquid velvet in “Risque”.

And here is the total costume! I found this little dress at a Halloween Store and added the red gloves, red bow and then I just wore white tights underneath and some ballet flats! Pretty easy and comfortable!

My hair is not this short, so I curled it all, and then I tucked most of it up and pinned it, leaving some of the shorter pieces hanging down. I thought it turned out great!

I hope you all enjoyed seeing my costume!

I would love to hear what you are going to be Halloween! I love seeing everyone elses’ costume and makeup tutorials!

First Impressions: New Mascara!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope everyone had a great week! I had a pretty busy, tiring week, and am so ready for a fun, relaxing weekend!

So I saw this new mascara and thought I would try it out…it is the Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Push Up Drama (Wowza, thats a long name!). I have worn this all week, so today I am sharing my first thoughts on this!

Claims: Push up cup brush, Revolutionary cup shaped bristles Scoops and lifts from the root to add bold volume (Ulta website).

Price: $9.49 (at Ulta)

I love the plastic wand, I feel like these are better for me personally, to really get into my lashes without clumping

Gives great volume (without clumping!)

Brush is great for lower lashes.

The formula is very wet and very black!

My only major con is that is does smudge a little bit after several hours (I don’t have the waterproof)

The other con for me is that it lacks a little bit of length 😦

I will keep using this, and hopefully get a better opinion of this! So far it is not my favorite mascara I’ve every used, but its also not the worse! I just prefer mascaras that give me great length (because my lashes are so short), but this isn’t terrible!

Let me know if you tried this and if it worked for you!

Top 5 Fall Lipsticks

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share my top 5 Lipsticks for fall! I have put away all of my fun, bright, summer colors, and have gone back to some of my favorites for this time of year! I tend to stick with nudes, mauves, and few berry tones. Stay tuned to see what my top picks are!

Laura Mercier “Milky Way”

This a beautiful just nude color. It is hard to wear in the summer or when I am more tan, because it blends in too much. I think this looks great when I’m a bit paler, and it is perfect for fall!

NARS “Scarlett Empress”

I LOVE this lip color right now! I am really obsessed with the berry colors (which is a bit out of my comfort zone). But this one is not too dark and in your face, which makes it so easy to wear! Gorgeous!

 Bite Beauty “Rhubarb”

This is another kind of berry red that I love for fall. It isn’t as bold as the one above, but has a bit more of the rosy tones. I love this when I’m too afraid to go full on red!

 Kat Von D “Lolita”

Oh, man I just love this color! It is straight up dark, and brown, and just lovely! I don’t wear this everyday because it is a bit darker, but I think the color is just perfect for this time of year! Not to mention, I love the formula of these, they last ALL DAY!!

Maybelline Matte “Touch of spice”

This is a color I could wear everyday. I love the mauve/rosy, my lips but better color! These are pretty amazing matte lipsticks for being from the drugstore; they are so comfortable to wear!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what top 5 lipsticks are for fall!

Let me know what your favorite fall lipsticks are, so I can check them out 🙂

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday everyone! I am so glad it is finally the weekend! Normally, I share my monthly favorites, which consist mostly of beauty products. But today, I wanted to share some non-beauty products that I am loving at the moment. A little bit of fashion and lifestyle products that are especially perfect for the fall weather right now!

Ok, first up is a food item. This may seem a little weird, but I am loving this stuff! I always love popcorn, but especially during the fall when I cozy up to watch a movie or one of my TV shows, I love to indulge with a little popcorn. This popcorn is already popped and is supposed to be a little better for you. I love this flavor because it is not super sweet like kettle corn is, but has just enough sweetness!

I probably don’t need to explain this one, but seriously, blanket scarves are my go to right now! I have about three different colors of plaid blanket scarves and they are just so easy to throw on with any basic top (plus they are functional…they actually keep me warm!)

Lately I have been loving the look of mixed metals. I used to be all about silver, and then I was all about gold, now I’m all about the combo!! I love this necklace from Express because it is easy to throw on with almost anything, and I love that it has a few gold strands, a few silver, and a darker color. What I also love is that I can pair any other jewelry with it, and not worry about the metals matching!

Next is this hand soap from Bath & Body Works in ‘Cozy vanilla cream’. I just love the sweet vanilla scent, but it almost has a little spiciness to it! Love it!

And last, is one of the every popular candles from Bath & Body Works. I particularly love this scent ‘Marshmallow fireside‘. It’s part sweet, part smoky’. I love how cozy it makes me feel when I burn it! (So much that I have extras on hand!)

Let me know what you are loving right now!! Hope you all have a great weekend 🙂

Berry Inspired Makeup!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had to work Sunday, but Saturday I had the most perfect fall day! I went to the cider mill with my hubby and another couple. It was quite crowded, but that didn’t stop us from having some cider and donuts! Not to mention, it was a beautiful day here, (almost 70 degrees F and sunny!) Although the weather was so nice, I was still feeling in a fall mood, and wanted to play around with some “berry” colored makeup. I recently got the Coastal Scents Revealed 3 palette in a Boxycharm, and the colors are definitely in the berry family! Keep reading to see the look I came up with for the day!
